5 Amazing & Unique Tree Species Around The Planet

Nature is Incredible

It’s no surprise that trees are everywhere. They are so everywhere, in fact, that we often take their beauty for granted. With so many in our neighborhoods or on hiking trails, we don’t always stop to appreciate them—let alone the ones we’ve never seen! The world of tree species is much bigger than you think, and we’re here to talk about some of the coolest ones.

1. Dragon Blood Tree

Try not to let the name scare you—this tree is far more incredible than you think, looking more like lightning than a bunch of branches. This one doesn’t look like your average tree, and it’s only found in Yemen, but you’d be lucky to lay eyes on it even in a photo!

2. Rainbow Eucalyptus

Is there anything prettier than a rainbow? Mother Nature didn’t think so! In fact, she loved them so much that she created this little guy, a stunning tree with bark that looks like melted crayons. Okay, maybe that doesn’t sound appealing, but we promise it’s more beautiful than it sounds.

3. Baobab Tree

At first glance, these trees might not seem like anything special. However, the closer you get, the more privy you are to their wonder. They’re mainly found in Africa, and they’re known as upside-down trees. Get up close and you’ll see branches that look like roots!

4. Mangrove Tree

Mangroves aren’t your everyday specimen; their roots actually thrive with oxygen, allowing them to filter up to 90% of salt from seawater. Don’t be surprised if you see a bramble of roots sprouting at their base.

5. Bristlecone Pine

Forget about their majestic appearance—the coolest thing about this species is that it's one of the oldest around. No, seriously! Did you know that the oldest living tree is a Great Basin bristlecone pine? Its name is Methuselah; it can be found in California, and it’s over 4,850 years old.
